Intermediate-Level Courses

The 2019 Edition was our first online course offered on BananaThai, and it has been a great success. We have been in touch with our students to follow up on their learning experiences and collect feedback.

Of course, there is always room for improvement, and the world is constantly evolving. Therefore, we have decided to update our course content and enhance our methodology and materials.

Our goal is to provide a series of Thai courses that will help you build a strong foundation in conversation skills with the most up-to-date content, topics, and scenarios. Additionally, we strive to offer Thai lessons that align with modern Thai culture and lifestyle.

Each volume of the Intensive Thai Series includes a package of online materials that can be studied at your own pace. Some of these materials are downloadable, while others can be accessed online through our learning platform as long as you have an internet connection.

The online materials consist of video lessons, Quizlet flashcards, games, and activities that enhance your learning experience.

In addition to the online materials, the course also provides offline materials. These include PDF workbooks, a solution book for reference, and listening audios to practice your listening skills.

With this comprehensive range of materials, both online and offline, you’ll have a well-rounded learning experience to support your Thai language studies.

👉🏽 Intensive Thai Volume 1 (Total beginner) is specifically designed for:

– Individuals with no prior knowledge of the Thai language. It is suitable for those who want to learn to converse in Thai confidently in daily life situations.
– This volume is also suitable for students who may know around 500+ words but are still considered total beginners due to their limited ability to form proper sentence structures.

👉🏽 Intensive Thai Volume 2 (Upper beginner) is specifically designed for:

– Students who have completed Intensive Thai Volume 1.
– Anyone who can converse using proper sentence structures in everyday conversations but may not yet feel comfortable engaging in small talk or exchanging deeper-level discussions. 

👉🏽 Intensive Thai Volume 3 (Intermediate) is intended for:

– Students who have completed Intensive Thai Volume 2 or the 2019 Edition.
– Students who possess a solid foundation in basic Thai and can comprehend and respond to basic questions in daily Thai conversations. However, they may still need improvement in expressing themselves and exchanging ideas on deeper-level topics.

👉🏽 Intensive Thai Volume 4 (Upper Intermediate) is designed for:

– Students who have completed Intensive Thai Volume 3.
– Students who have attained proficiency in Thai communication and can effectively converse in the language. However, they may still need further development in comprehending more formal or colloquial (spoken) Thai language.

These 4 volumes provide a structured progression in learning Thai, gradually building upon the foundations established in the earlier volumes to advance your language skills.

The Intensive Thai Series (Volume 1-4) primarily focuses on developing conversational and foundational skills. It does not include specific topics or lessons dedicated to building reading and writing skills.

This course is best taken as early as possible in your language learning journey if you wish to read Thai.

In terms of the methodology of the lesson, we focus on the four key skills: vocabulary, grammar, usage, and conversation. We have added more relatable examples and various engaging exercises and practices.

The textbooks are available in two languages: one with both transliteration and Thai scripts, and one with only Thai scripts for those who want to focus on improving their Thai reading and writing simultaneously.

Our transliteration system has been updated to resemble simple English phonetics closely. There is no need to master additional skills like IPA (International Phonetic Alphabet). We provide a complete guide to basic pronunciation in the course.

Each lesson is presented in the form of a video with a maximum length of 12 minutes. Our aim is to create a series of pocket lessons that encourage regular learning habits.

Additionally, we have expanded the topics and content to a higher level. The 2019 Edition only covered the beginner level, while the 2023 Edition covers everything from total beginner to upper intermediate level. We have designed a simple path for you to work towards your goals.

Certainly! The 2019 Edition only covers a portion of the topics found in Volume 1 and Volume 2.

If you have recently completed the 2019 Edition, you have two options: you can either continue with Volume 3, which is designed for intermediate level learners, or you can refresh your knowledge by revisiting Volume 2, which is suitable for upper beginner level learners.

As mentioned before, the 2023 Edition includes numerous updates, additional knowledge, and helpful tips. I can assure you that you will gain valuable insights from these courses.

Please note that joining the new 2023 Edition is not mandatory. Your access to the 2019 Edition will be retained. If you have opted for the one-time payment plan with lifetime access for the 2019 Edition, you can continue to access that course without any additional requirements.
